Acclaimed writer for children and TV personality David Walliams has been dropped by his publisher HarperCollins UK, the company has said.

A spokesman for the firm said: "After careful consideration, and following the appointment of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK has chosen to cease publishing future works by David Walliams."

Media sources suggest that the decision was reached following an inquiry regarding claims about inappropriate behaviour involving female individuals.

The company declined to specify the reasons for its decision, noting: "It is not our policy to discuss confidential company decisions."

An Illustrious Literary Career

Walliams stands as a most successful children's authors, having sold more than 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, came out under HarperCollins back in 2008.

Some of his works, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as TV movies.

To date, he has released in excess of 40 works altogether, encompassing a holiday title called *Santa & Son*, which was published by HarperCollins last autumn.

His initial claim to fame came on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has additionally received National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He received an OBE in 2017 for his services to philanthropic and artistic endeavors.

The publisher's decision comes after the naming of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss this past October.
