Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with the football player, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals injured. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 receiving yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
